Your garden is an extension of your home so why not maximise your space and make it more comfortable. A great way to do this is to buy some wooden garden furniture such as a table and chairs for the family to eat at or a nice bench to sit and read on whilst relaxing on a hot summer’s day.
If you have quite a large family and you all want to eat outside on the patio on a warm summer’s evening then you should probably look to purchase a wooden garden furniture set or a set of wicker furniture rather than buying all the pieces separately. This will no doubt be the cheaper option but it should be noted that if you want to ensure your outdoor wooden garden furniture lasts a long time then you don’t want to get the cheapest set you can find. However, cheap wooden garden furniture can often be found in the sales or even online but be sure to research properly so that you don’t buy poor quality items.
The best quality is probably teak garden furniture. This is definitely one place that you need to watch out for quality as it is so expensive. Try to find out what the drying process of the wood was before you buy it because it can make a significant difference to the quality of the product and its lifespan.
There are two options for teak garden furniture; naturally dried and kiln dried.
Naturally dried teak wooden garden furniture is left in the sun so that the drying process is entirely natural. Unfortunately this can create uncertainties as not only is the time it takes entirely variable but it can also cause uneven drying. Uneven drying can lead to problems with your furniture such as warping, cracking and splitting of the wood over time.
Kiln dried teak wooden garden furniture is more of an exact science as temperature levels and time taken to complete the process is measured and so produce a better product that lasts longer. As kiln drying is a slow process, and the slow part of it produces better results, it does make it more expensive which in turn makes it a more expensive product for consumers. This is not the only downside though as teak that has being kiln dried too quickly or for too long reduces in strength dramatically, especially when it is placed in a damp atmosphere as it draws in moisture too quickly and then deforms.
If you are going for teak then it is unlikely that you will find any cheap wooden garden furniture sets that fit your needs. If cheap is important to you then you will have to look at different types of wood as teak is one of the most expensive on the market but with good reason.
In order to protect your wooden garden furniture from the elements or indeed just as a space saving device, it can be worthwhile to buy folding wooden garden furniture so that it can be stored more quickly and easily in a garden shed or even a garage.
