Why Kitchen Range Hoods are Important

All kitchens should have a range hood installed, as they are able to help reduce air pollution from cooking, so they are very essential when it comes to luxury and comfort. If a stove is configured correctly, you will improve your cooking experience by removing all the hot air and odors of  cooking in addition to maintaining fat free kitchen surfaces.

Hood choices can range from simple wall mounted with no extras to those with lights, timers, easy to clean surfaces and are available in different styles and materials such as stainless steel and copper.

The ventilation system of your current home is a key aspect to consider when choosing the right hood for your kitchen. Next would be the size, location and quality of the hood you’re looking for. Some other hoods have a carbon filter, have more efficient fans which are built to push hot air toward the ceiling.

There are two main types of kitchen range hoods – vent and non vented. A vented hood is a bit more complicated to install as it requires a connection to an exhaust pipe. A vented hood extracts the air, cleans it through filters and pushes it back into the kitchen. These are much simpler to install.

Some hoods, like the compact range may be hidden under the cabinets, and then pull out when required. Another type can be used as a microwave oven shelf with the fans that provide ventilation below.

Other types of range hood systems include updraft and downdraft. Updraft systems draw air through a filter and then along the ducts to the outside. Downdraft systems are usually located near the range surface and the use one or more fans which pulls air through a filter in the funnel.

To be effective, range hoods must be as broad as the cooking surface, to extract all the fumes effectively. There must also be sufficient space for the ducting and if a vented model, access to the outside world through a hole in an exterior wall.

Overall, a range hood really is an essential kitchen appliance which helps protect the health of the users and visitors in the kitchen and also keeps the kitchen clean and pleasant to be in.
