Why Every Kitchen Needs a Clock

How are your time management skills looking? Even though most appliances have clocks on them, and every one carries a cell phone, it always seems like a struggle to keep on track! Having a clock somehow seems to help me, because it forces me to keep and eye on the time.

Personally I can’t stand ticking clocks – I think it’s that they remind me of being in school! So I have nothing but digital clocks in my flat. One in my study, and one in my kitchen. Here is my reasoning for having a study and a kitchen clock.

  1. If you normally rely on your cell phone as a clock (and who doesn’t nowadays) it is real and dangerous distraction when you are trying to study or work. So a clock is a must, and as I said a digital clock has the advantage of no annoying tick!
  2. the kitchen is the place where the in-between-time gets spent…and wasted. A quick cleanup here, a cup of tea or coffee there, so it really helps to have a clock that reminds you not to muck around. Kitchen clocks are another good place for a digital display instead of an analogue one because I find it easier to time things – eggs, pizza etc. Its just somehow easier to memorize times when its in a digital readout. Like you can just say to yourself “six-twenty-two” and it sticks.

Is there anything special about kitchen clocks you should know? Nope, just get an easy to read digital clock is my advice. Ebay or Amazon are my favourite places to pick up bargains these days, and you should find a good deal in no time. If you have a bit of extra money, a really cool way to add a bit of atmosphere  to your home is with an led or a back lit clock.
