Use Blue Pendant Lights For An Elegant Look

Looking for an elegant lighting option to be used in virtually any room? Consider blue pendant lights. Otherwise known as suspended or drop lights, these fixtures hang from the ceiling and are ideal for providing task lighting, but are also equally effective for primarily decorative purposes. Available in a wide range of styles, pendant lights can fit nearly any decor.

A main advantage is their flexibility. Be it the dining room, living room, bedroom, kitchen, home office, entry way, foyer or other common areas, this option is a logical choice. Furthermore, these lights can adapt to work in rooms with either standard or high ceilings.

Have a particular material in mind? Again, multi pendant lights are the ultimate in variety. Whether looking for contemporary designs featuring brass, stainless steel or brushed metal finishes to a more vintage, stained-glass approach, one can find a light that fits the bill. Options run from very simple utilitarian designs to more aesthetically appealing ornate schemes. In fact, some have deemed them worthy to fill the role of traditional chandeliers.

There are two main categories of pendant fixture designs: inverted and open. When non-directional light is ideal, inverted fixtures are likely the best option. These direct light back toward the ceiling, which results in less glare. For work areas or kitchens, a better solution is likely an open design, which provides direct, downward lighting.

Beyond the type of fixture, one can choose from single-bulb pendants up to options with several lights. For instance, island lights offer multiple fixtures that hang at varying heights. These are ideal for kitchens, many times being positioned directly over a center island console. When looking to light areas with limited space, mini-pendants offer another unique solution.

Pendant fixtures are offered in a wide array of colors as well – either to match a rooms decor or to provide a particular mood or atmosphere. This is where more subdued colors, like blue pendants, may come into play. These are ideal for bedrooms or game rooms – basically any area where a more subtle, relaxing light is desired. Going one step further, some of these lights include built-in dimmer switches for even more flexibility in resulting light disbursement.

What about installation? Actually, the process is quite simple – whether one chooses a basic single-light fixture or the more advanced blue pendant light with built-in dimmer. Most fixtures are designed to be easily installed into existing electrical hardware. Just keep some basic rules of thumb in mind. First, if installing lights above work areas, try to install the lights to hang between 30 and 40 inches from the desk. Also, remember that decorative purpose lights should typically be installed higher than a more direct work light. Otherwise, just follow the supplied installation and safety instructions and adding pendant lighting should be just about as easy as flipping a switch.
