Types of Breakfast Nook Furniture

The first, and one of the most common, type of breakfast nooks is the corner breakfast nook. A corner nook includes an L-shaped bench that wraps around two sides of the table and rests in the corner. Often there is a shelf in the corner above the back of the bench where you can display a vase of flowers or other decoration. The corner style allows you to have a larger table and accommodate more people.

Another type of breakfast nook is the dinette. A dinette set is like a dining table and chairs but usually a little smaller and less formal. The dinette will include a combination of a table and chairs. The number of chairs can vary and they style and material of construction for your kitchen dinette is completely up to you. You can find a table and chairs in almost any style so it will be easy to match the rest of your kitchen.

One specific variation of the dinette is a breakfast table with benches. Benches are great if you want to sit more people than you will be able to fit in chairs. They have a traditional country feel to them so they work best in country themed kitchens. Benches are also a good solution if you have children because it is easier for them to climb up on a bench than to pull out a chair and then pull it up to the table. They can be much more self sufficient with benches than with chairs.

Finally, there is the high top table. A high top is a table where the top is at chest level rather than below waste level. You need to have stools for this type of table and traditionally they are meant for two people. It is very unusual to find a high top table that seats four to six in the breakfast nook.
