Tree Removal Issues

Many of us take great pride in our backyard, with its lush greenery and towering trees. As beautiful as nature may be, it can cause damage to your home if gone unchecked. Perhaps you have noticed that a number of beautifully landscaped homes have cracked driveways and pathways. This is not so much a sign of negligence on behalf of the homeowner as it is nature’s way of saying it wants more room. Of all the pesky problems that various plants can cause, tree roots are by far the biggest threat to your home. However, thanks to the low tree removal cost in most areas, they can be dealt with swiftly.

Once a tree begins to age, its roots expand outwards without regard for any grassy landscape or concrete driveway which may be standing in the way. Cracked pavement is but one byproduct of out of control tree roots, but the cost of repairing cracks in your driveway pales in comparison to repairing underground piping.

Root growth can trigger damage to a variety of water lines, from your sprinklers to sewage lines. Since irrigation lines for yards are typically run using PVC, roots can easily displace these lines and exert undue force on them, causing them to burst at a moment’s notice. More mature trees can cause a similar effect on piping for septic systems, especially in environments where water is hard to come by. When the tree roots reach the pipe, they will try to penetrate through the most vulnerable areas – the joints. From there they can cause the pipe to crack and create an obstruction. The eventual buildup of waste water can cause a number of problems with your sewage system, often requiring the aid of a professional to treat.

If you’ve had recurring problems with your sewer lines, it would be highly suggested that you contract with a professional arborist to have the suspect tree or trees removed. Root removal is too much of painstaking task for the average person to execute and requires specialized equipment. Remember to factor in the cost of tree stump removal as the stump will have to go with the roots. If you tackle the project, you may end up casing some damage to piping yourself.

Tree removal cost can vary tremendously depending on the extent to which the tree has grown. However, finding an arborist shouldn’t be treated as an exercise in bargain hunting. You want to find a removal contractor with extensive experience in root extraction. While you are getting this problem taken care of, consider having other trees on your property removed if they are also proving to be a nuisance. You might be able to save a considerable amount of money by getting all the work completed at once.
