Tips on Cleaning Bathroom Sinks

Can you keep your bathroom sink looking clean despite the frequent use it gets? The following outlines a few tips and tricks for people with filthy bathroom sinks who want help:

1. Ensure that whoever does the cleaning around the house, be it you or someone else, is the last one to go in the bathroom every day and night. The last thing you do before leaving the bathroom is grab a cloth, wipe everything down, and clean up what mess was left in the sink so everything is ready to go for the day, or the following morning.

2. Pick the best bathroom cleaner you can. A lot of people believe all sink cleaners are created equally. This is not true. In today’s modern homes the materials used in sinks can be different in each house, and the cleaners have different chemicals based on what type of material they’ll be used on. A cleaning product made especially for an enamel sink will have totally different chemicals than those that can be used on porcelain or metal bathroom sinks. Read the label fully before you use any cleaner. You could even damage the material with the incorrect bathroom cleaner, instead of cleaning it.

3. Scrub your bathroom sinks at least once a week with a good scrubber. Even if you wipe your sink down every day, you might need to scrub it out with a good scrubber. If you want a lasting product, get a microfiber scrubber, because they work very well and you can just throw it in the washing machine afterward.

Try putting baskets or tubs under the sink or someplace out of sight when you’re gathering up hair brushes, water glasses, toothbrushes and toothpaste containers. Just having a clean surface around the sink can go a long way toward keeping the area neat. If you don’t have cabinets already to put your medicines and products, get a wall-mounted cabinet or some other type of small storage space to put your things so that it’s not in the way.

5. Check the sinks faucet and water knobs, and tighten them if necessary. This is a simple step many people forget, and taking a little time to do this will save you the headaches of continually cleaning water stains caused by leaks.

While it may not be exciting to clean a bathroom sink, you can take pride in the cleanliness of your home if you do so.
