Three Easy Solar Lights Projects for your Home

The use of solar lights in landscape design has become a popular way to help improve a home’s lighting plan without increasing energy consumption.  This so called “green” method is becoming more popular as people are turning their landscapes into outdoor living spaces.  It can be confusing to choose from all the options and to decide how they can be of use to you, so I have outlined below three easy solar lights projects that you can try below.

Lighting up a pathway is always a beautiful and functional way to utilize solar powered lights.  You can utilize lights that sit up about two feet high and cast light down onto the path.  You could also choose a light that sits close to the ground and projects light across the path.  Either option provides a great way to add light to the pathway.  Both options are easy to put in and take only a few minutes.  You just open the box, take them out, and then push them down into the ground.  Staggering the lights at even internals will allow for enough light and yet not overpower the area.

Globe shaped lights are another way to add light to your yard.  These lights emit a very soft, gentle glow.  They are usually considered more decorative than functional.  They look really nice scattered among a flower bed or between bushes, to offer a soft bit of illumination to the area.  They get their power from a solar panel on the light itself so no wiring is required. These can also be used as pathway lights.  They look very nice illuminating the edges of a deck or patio as well.  Just enough light so you can see the edges of the area without being too bright.

Overhead lighting options can go solar as well.  The lights come on strings just like electric patio lights.  They look fabulous along a deck rail or fence.  They come in a variety of shapes and colors.  These lights are wired together kind of like Christmas lights.  You will have to put in a panel to connect all the lights.  The panel also gathers and stores the solar power.

So you can see that there are numerous easy to install light sources to choose from.  None of them require electricity.  They are all run from solar energy which means they are easy to install.  The different types of lights are used to achieve varying degrees of illumination.  The difference that these lights make can be very dramatic. The simple addition of light can also make the space more of an outdoor living space that can be used at night for relaxation and entertaining.
