Things to Look For When Buying Chairs

If you’re buying chairs that are made out of fabric there are a few things that you should look for to get the most value for money and to ensure that the furniture you buy last for as long as possible.

First of all, whenever buying seating (such as living room chairs) that have a fabric outer area you should make sure that the fabric coating is removable (so that it can be easily washed). This is especially important for anyone with small children (who tend to spill lots of food and drink around) and for anyone looking for restaurant chairs. Not only does this mean that it can be easily washed, it also means that you can replace that entire piece of fabric completely (possibly because you want to change the style of it). Most furniture will have zips along the edges so that the fabric can be removed, but it’s always best to check just in case.

Secondly, try to make sure that any furniture that you buy has a hardwood frame. The old saying ‘they don’t make ‘em like they used to’ can applied to these, since many companies now choose to make furniture from cheaper or weaker materials. A hardwood frame gives chairs durability, strength and support, and means that you won’t be worrying about them breaking.

Different kinds of seats are made differently and with different materials. If you’re buying a sofa for your living room make sure to get one with springs in it. Again, this is something that lots of companies choose to ignore these days, but a sofa with real springs in it will be a lot more comfortable and supportive than one without. You usually won’t even have to ask if a chair has springs in it or not since you can usually tell just by sitting on it.

Lastly, look for chairs that have been skotch guarded. This is essentially a layer of protection that is sprayed over the top to help prevent stains and liquid from ruining the fabric. While you can always skotch guard your furniture after you’ve bought it, it’s always best to have it done before so that you know it’s been done properly.
