Stimulating Satin Sheets
In the 1300’s, satin was invented in Zaytoun, China, newly named as Canton. The satin style was then embraced by European countries including Italy and England 200 years later. Satin has become known for its construction that consists of natural fibers found in plants. This has caused satin fabrics to become some of the most sought-after and splendid goods created in textile history.
Nowadays, because of its popularity, satin can be found in clothes and lingerie, drapery fabrics and other materials used in vehicles such as upholstery fabrics. As centuries passed, satin has evolved into newer versions of itself while being blended into other fibers to create new assortments that people have been enjoying.
Yarns are used to create satin sheets. Long threads called warp are dangled over horizontal pieces of yarn known as filling, and are woven together to create a satin sheet. The warped yarns are responsible for the satin’s gleam and sheen. A common choice for bridal gowns is satin which would feel very soft against the skin. Comfortable as it may be, silk satin is an expensive fabric and not very affordable to everyone.
Several aspects should not be overlooked when choosing the right kind of satin bed sheets. One is its weave, which will strongly determine the sheets’ texture. Materials that have been woven are much better than knit fabric bedding. Woven fabrics are smoother because it is made up of hundreds of threads that produce the smoothness of the fabric. Meanwhile, knit materials may look shiny on the surface, but once used its roughness and irregularity are revealed. It may look great on several home fixtures like bed sheets and comforters but does not feel comfortably the same as woven fabrics.
A number of materials are handled to come up with satin materials. One is nylon, which is a petroleum-based material. It is strong and durable but long and direct exposure to sunlight as well as long time washing may damage it. Polyester, like nylon, is also very solid and substantial. Hand washing is best, compared to machine washing. Silk is a very delicate and thin fabric and requires much care and caution. Though it costs a high price, it is very sensitive to heat.
Satin sheets are now available in many colors, one of which would be black satin sheets that are to be displayed and managed during cold seasons. Champagne colored ones like the red satin sheets are even more welcomed by many and have become very wide reaching. Bold prints and patterns have been created by combining different fibers with each other, from shimmering exteriors to dull surfaces, beautiful results have been achieved. If you want to buy a wonderful present for a friend, why not consider a satin sheet set?
