Plumbing Applications of Sewage Pumps

Sewage pumps are great whenever someone’s septic tank gets clogged up and the homeowners have had to go through the experience of having to call a professional septic tank cleaner to suck the sewage out of their septic tanks. This is a very expensive procedure to have to cope with. Wouldn’t it be nice if homeowners had the facilities to pump out their own septic tanks? Now that is possible. The great thing about these pumps is that they are not that expensive, and the homeowner can use the pumps to pump out their own sewage whenever they feel that they need to.

If you cannot locate one of these sewage pumps at a store near you, you can do a little research on the internet and find them. There is one pump package deal that comes with its own pump and storage container. All you will need to do is to dig a hole near your septic tank, slide the container into the hole, connect the pump to the container, then connect the discharge pipe, add an inlet line, and hook up the power. Of course, the containers lid can extend out of the ground for about thirty six inches. The pump company also sales extra parts and accessories for this unit, for a small shipping and handling fee.

The system is not designed to be installed inside a home such as a cellar or a basement but was manufactured more for outside use. You will need to check with your local zoning office to find out what specifications you will need such as a permit, and other plumbing specs that will have to be followed for your state and county ordinances. The ordinances may require that you use small gravel and crushed rock as a back fill, and they may also require that the pump sit on a concrete slab; however, not all state and county ordinances are the same.
