More and more people are learning that household fungus (mold) can be dangerous. They’re realizing that no matter what type of mold they have in their home, it should not be ignored. They understand that when molds are left untreated, they can cause severe damage and loss to homes and serious illness in their health.
So why is it some people still refuse to go to Google or open up the yellow pages of their phonebook to mold removal companies and hire a professional?
Instead, they attempt to get rid of mold by using techniques that aren’t meant for large amounts of fungus, which in the end can make problems even worse or they simply choose to do nothing at all.
When you hire a company to professionally remove mold, the process should include removing contaminated materials. The materials may include, furniture, clothing, personal belongings, cabinets, walls, floors, ceilings, floorboards and insulation. The disposal process should include bagging and sealing any items that cannot be treated and removing them from the home.
The next step should consist of repairing leaking pipes, cracked walls or addressing condensation issues which are often the cause of mold growth.
Then a chemical treatment, which will kill both the mold and its spores, should be used. The company may also use a HEPA vacuum and other cleaning equipment to dry the infected area and remove all traces of dust and debris.
After the treatment, the mold removal company is sometimes involved in remodeling the home, however in most situations this may be left up to the homeowners themselves.
Something else that may also be left of to the homeowner is the cost of remediation. And as unfortunate as it is, most insurance companies refuse to pay remediation claims because its simply too easy for a home to be infested with mold.
That is why it is extremely important that a homeowner should take immediate action in researching and hiring one of the many mold removal companies that are available in their area. The sooner the molds are eliminated, the less the cost of remediation will be.
