If you find that the price of king size waterbed sheets is more than you want to pay, you may want to make your own sheets. Believe it or not, they are actually fairly easy to make especially if you want simple hemmed sheets with deep corner pieces.
Once you have your material you will want to hem it along the top and both sides, leaving the bottom side of the sheet un-hemmed for now. Next you will make the corner pockets. Choose some of the same material and cut out four large triangular pieces and sew a narrow hem around all three sides. Turn your sheet over so that the hem is facing up and lay the triangular pieces of material with the point matching the corner point of the sheet and the two sides running along the two sides of the corner. Sew the two sides onto the sheet, leaving the larger base of the triangle open. That is what will tuck around your mattress.
Usually waterbed bedding sheets have the top sheet sewn onto the lower sheet. Hem your top sheet around all four sides, and then with hems facing sew the top sheet to the bottom sheet.
Finally you will want a piece of material to tuck under the top and bottom edges of the mattress. Measure the space at the top and bottom of your sheet between the inner corner of each of the triangles and cut a piece of rectangular material that will fit in between. You should leave around eighteen inches to tuck under. Hem the fabric and then stitch one edge of each of the pieces to the bottom sheet. You should now have a flap that will tuck under your mattress to help keep it in place.
