Our modern workplace seems almost designed to drive us mad. Too much work, not enough time, too little money, bad colleagues, unpleasant customers – it all seems so insane. No one can go on and on everyday without some relief. When we get home, our bedrooms, at least, need to provide us with a sanctuary against the madness of the outside world. We need some place warm, and cozy, and safe to which we can escape everyday.
How our bedrooms are decorated is important for this. The wrong color scheme, the wrong theme – either of these could easily make us feel worse instead of better. Loud colors, aggressive colors, dark and depressing colors … should all be avoided. For someone with no worries, a dash of these colors can help make life a little more colorful and less boring. But for people like us, with too much stress from work, light colors, uplifting colors, bland and boring colors … are best.

The warm, light brown of the pine wood, with its beautiful, natural grain markings and knots, gives delight to our eyes. A thick, soft mattress, white sheets and a warm, fluffy comforter gives us a cozy feeling. The sturdiness of the solid wood bed frame gives us a feeling of security that a cheap bed made of fiberboard just cannot rival.
If we want even to be even more relaxed, we can get unfinished pine furniture instead of the normal waxed or varnished pine furniture. This kind of premium-grade, unfinished furniture is made of freshly cut pine, and releases a natural and pleasant fragrance into the air. This wonderful, fresh scent helps to bring our minds back to nature, even though our bodies are stuck in the middle of the concrete jungle.
Unfortunately, pine bedroom furniture can be pretty expensive. One way to get our hands on affordable pine furniture is to buy them secondhand. If we are patient, and put in the effort to search, it should be possible to get some good bargains on eBay or even the garage sales from our neighborhood. Since this IS used furniture, there will likely be some damage and we will have to spend some money on repairs. It will definitely also be necessary to re-finish the furniture. Whether we choose to wax it or paint it over will depend on the damage. If there is a visible gash or scar even after repairs, we may want to paint it instead of just waxing it. While this will hide the natural beauty of the pine, it will also hide the ugly scars on the wood. Naturally, what color we choose will depend on our taste. But white is always a good color. White bedroom furniture has a crisp, clean look that goes well with most bedroom decor.
Pine bedroom furniture in a bedroom decorated with a light pastel color scheme can provide us with a warm, cozy and safe place to which we can escape from the pressures of work. Not even the strongest of us can go on and on under the pressure of work without a break. We should be sure to furnish our bedrooms with proper care to ensure we have our safe sanctuary.
