Storing your bicycle on the wall has far more practical purposes than it does aesthetic, it certainly may look nice and organised but there are far more useful reasons why your bike should be hung on the wall on a dedicated bike rack.
Although a bicycle looks like it doesn’t take up much room actually by the time you take into account handlebars and pedals you’d be surprised. An average adult mountain bike takes up around 2m or 6 feet in length and almost 2 feet or 60cm. This is in fact quite a large amount of space and when you think of it in terms of your shed if you have a 6 x 8 shed your bike is going to take up almost a quarter of it. If you have more than one bike and the problem is compounded.
Hanging your bike on the wall averts this problem and is a fantastic use of space, you don’t need to hang your bike very high off the ground to be able to make good use of the space underneath it. With your bike wheels just 2 feet off the ground you will easily be able to fit a lawnmower under it, storage boxes, buckets and any other gardening and outdoor paraphernalia. If you do put you bike on the wall at this height you will still be able to put shelves at a useful heighte where you can store all your bike tool. It is unlikely that you would put shelves at the same height as what you will store your bike though so it is not as if it is taking up an valuable storage space.
Another good reason to put your bike on the wall is that if you get a strong enough wall mounted bicycle storage rack then you can actually use it to maintain your bike. Having the wheels so that they can freely rotate really does make it much easier to sort out buckled wheels fine tuned years and sort out break.
Having a bike hung on the wall makes it far less difficult to be knocked over and sustaining damage or scratches. The flip side to this is that if you have small children that are likely to knocked it over they went injured by falling bike either.
