Have a new black glass table? Or a new black glass dining table? Then you need to know how to clean it, before you damage the surface.
Now, I know, glass has a pretty durable surface. That is one of the reasons glass is so useful. But in furniture, and on the kitchen appliances too, you have to be careful not to scratch that surface. The beauty of the glass table comes from its smooth, reflective surface. Once scratched, big or small, the damage will be hard to hide and hard to forget. So it pays to take care of your black glass table tops.
How to Clean Black Glass
There are cleaners especially made for your glass surfaces. Be sure to use a clean cloth that has not been used to clean anything else beforehand. If you pick up grit or sand elsewhere and then use the cloth to clean your glass tables, you are going to scratch the surface. So, using a clean cloth, or paper towel straight from the roll, spritz the surface and wipe gently. If you hear any scratching sounds, or feel any resistance, stop immediately and see what the problem is. Discard your wiping material and start fresh.
An old, and much cheaper, fluid for cleaning your black glass kitchen tables is vinegar. Using a spray bottle, dilute the vinegar with water, one to one. Spray on the glass table top and use newspaper to wipe the table. You get a remarkable shine, use low-cost materials, and reuse that morning paper for something besides your daily chuckles. You can even recycle the paper once it has dried out. Thus you get two uses and a recycle out of the newspaper. In addition, should someone indulge their curiosity about the stuff in the spray bottle, it is only vinegar. The worst that will happen is that he/she will learn not to play with cleaning products, and that without a trip to the hospital or a call to the poison hot line. Seems like a deal.
Remember, treat your glass table tops gently, and they will shine for you for a long time.
