Choosing Blue Bedding
Blue is one of the most restful colors you can choose when decorating a room with a new color scheme and therefore it is particularly appropriate for a bedroom.
Some think that it is a cold color and shy away from it as a result, but it does depend on the whole color scheme and also the kind of blue used. There is a big difference between choosing an icy color or a warmer mid blue.
When choosing blue bedding you will see a whole range of colors on offer and be able to steer your choice towards a cool and fresh theme or warmer tones. A fresher theme works well for a bedroom in sunnier climates or for a room which gets a lot of sun in summer. Blue and white bedding is a great combination for this. There are a number of beautiful bedding ensembles with a dominant white or cream background and a blue pattern. You can always warm the look of the room up in winter by adding thicker, darker blue curtains, a white or cream cashmere throw and a sheepskin rug.
Another fresh yet slightly warmer blue theme which works well is the classic combination of red, white and dark blue for a nautical theme. In this combination the major colors for bedding are generally white and navy blue, perhaps with touches of red in the trimming. Walls are generally painted white, however it can be very effective to have one focus wall in navy instead. As red is the strongest color, the best way to use this is in small touches in accessories.
If you would like a warmer tone, you can combine mid blue with yellow as that is quite a sunny, warm combination reminiscent of sun, sea and sand. You can warm it up further by painting walls or choosing wallpaper in yellow or cool it down a touch with white or cream color walls. When looking for blue and yellow bedding, look out for blue and yellow plaid, paisley or floral patterns with matching blue or yellow bed sheets which creates an inviting look for your bed.
