Bathroom Lighting Options

There are an incredible variety of ways in which you can choose to light your bathroom.  Just as important as choosing nice lighting is making sure that it goes with the bathroom décor you have, as well as the color of your bathroom.  Another factor to consider is price; it goes without saying that some bathroom light fixtures are more expensive than others, but you should also consider the factor that some bathroom lights use more power than others, thus affecting your electricity bill.

If you like natural lights, filament bulbs are a good choice.  They can go in fixtures in already installed bathroom furniture and they give your bathroom a nice soft lighting, that resembles natural light.  Spot lighting is a bit brighter, which some people prefer. If you are going to put your make-up on looking at the bathroom mirror, for instance, then brighter lighting can be a plus.   These light bulbs are more expensive than filament light bulbs, but they use less electricity.  And if you want a really bright bathroom you could choose neon bathroom lighting, although this lighting is very bright and harsh, and uses a lot of electricity.

The cheapest option is to install a simple, one bulb light fixture.

Another option is to buy a light fixture that can be installed on either the wall or the ceiling.  You can usually buy these for less than $150, and most have three or four bulbs. With this light fixture, your bathroom will still have a nice look to it while being quite bright as well.

By far the most popular bathroom vanity light fixtures are glass wall fixtures.  They match with just about any kind of bathroom décor.  Most take two light bulbs, though you can buy bigger fixtures if you have a large sized bathroom.

Depending on the lighting you choose, you can make your bathroom a bright, cheery happy place, or a calm, soothing, naturally-lit place.  Remember, if buying a fixture that uses bulbs, to purchase a few extras at the same time you buy your fixture.
