3 Ways to get the Most out of your Electric Garage Heater
If you use your garage as more than a place to park your car, you know how cold it can get in there during the winter months, especially if you have no garage door insulation. And, if you’ve been using your garage for a while, you finally realized that you need to get some type of heater to keep yourself warm during the colder months. If you’re into electric garage heaters, I’m going to show you three ways to get the most of it without dramatically increasing your bill.
Electric garage heaters are, in my personal experience, the best option for heating your garage. I mean, think about it; it’s ready to go straight out of the box, uses your home electricity as its power supply, and is powerful enough to heat your entire garage. Plus, you don’t have to worry about the exhaust natural gas heaters or worry about gas leaks from a propane garage heater.
So lets get to maximizing what you do have. The first thing is the easiest thing to do; make sure you turn off your heater when you’re done using the garage. I know, simple right, but this is the numberone1 reason people experience high energy bills during the winter months. They simply forgot to turn off the electric heater after they were done using the garage.
Now the second thing is a little tougher. If you’re able to use your garage during the day time, you’ll save yourself even more money. How? Easy, because the sunlight helps to increase the temperature of the garage quickly and keep it there. It’s colder at night and in the early morning, so it’ll take your heater longer to heat up the garage while you’re in there.
Finally, wear a light jacket or warmer clothes when you’re using the garage. You’ll have to use the electric heater less and still be able to stay warm while you’re in there. As the temperature increases, you always have the option of stripping down (taking off your light jacket or sweatshirt) and turning off the heating when the garage reaches the right temperature for you.
So there you have it, three simple tips to get the most out of your heater while saving money on your electricity bill. Lightly bundle up and enjoy your garage this winter.
